What You Should Know Before Porting

1. Definitions Related to Porting

  • Original Operator: The first operator where the subscriber registered for mobile services, submitted the necessary documents for identity verification and registration, and received the subscription document.
  • Recipient Operator (destination operator): The operator whose services a subscriber from another operator intends to use without changing their number.
  • Donor Operator (current operator): The operator whose services the subscriber is currently using when requesting number porting.
  • Porting Identifier: A unique number assigned to each subscriber during the porting process for ease of identification and tracking of the porting request.

2. The porting process can only be executed during the administrative hours of the mobile number portability system: Saturday to Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Thursdays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (excluding official holidays). However, the subscriber can register their request on the Recipient Operator’s portal during non-administrative hours or holidays.

Requests registered on holidays or outside of administrative hours will be reviewed and executed during the next administrative hours (Saturday to Wednesday).

3. The porting request can be submitted either electronically or in person (by filling out the porting request form).

4. Each subscriber can port each mobile number only twice per year. (Note: Returning to the Original Operator is not considered porting.)

5. The first porting is only possible after 3 months have passed since the SIM card’s activation with the Original Operator. There will be no time restriction for subsequent porting actions.

6. Porting a postpaid subscriber’s number is conditional upon settling the initial invoice issued by the Donor Operator. Upon receiving the initial invoice text message from the Donor Operator, the postpaid subscriber must pay the specified amount within one working day. Failure to settle the initial invoice within one day will result in the rejection of the porting request.

7. Free SIM cards, including gift, discounted, Snapp gift, Snapp Gold gift, special for Snapp drivers, and similar cases, will be subject to a fee (as announced by Irancell) upon requesting porting to other operators, even after a change in ownership.

8. The Recipient Operator may deactivate the number of postpaid subscribers who fail to settle their final account with the Donor Operator (as per Resolution No. 207 of the Commission of the Communications Regulatory Authority).

Note: If the subscriber’s outstanding debt on the final bill is less than the remaining amount of the payment guarantee, the remaining payment guarantee will be returned to the subscriber upon their request.

9. After porting, the prepaid subscriber’s number will remain prepaid, and the postpaid subscriber’s number will remain postpaid with the Recipient Operator (Porting is peer-to-peer).

10. After porting a prepaid number, the subscriber’s credit with the Donor Operator will be zeroed. Therefore, the subscriber must take necessary precautions before the porting request is finalized.

11. After migrating to the Recipient Operator’s network, all previous services and packages received by postpaid and prepaid subscribers from the Donor Operator (including internet, SMS, etc.), except for banking SMS and government services, will be terminated. The subscriber will benefit from all services offered by the Recipient Operator.

12. After porting, all the subscriber’s tariffs (both voice calls and SMS) will be calculated based on the tariffs of the Recipient Operator.

13. Porting requests from legal entities must necessarily be submitted in writing by the authorized signatories or their designated representatives.

14. If a legal entity requests number porting electronically, the Recipient Operator will send an SMS notifying the subscriber to visit one of the Recipient Operator’s offices in person to formally register the request. Failure to attend in person to register the request will be considered a withdrawal of the porting request.
