Irancell’s Sustainable Network Development with an Environmental Protection Approach‌

‌Coinciding with World Environment Day ‌‌(June 5), an assessment of sustainability ‌indicators shows that Irancell has been able to manage the environmental ‌‌impacts of its operations while expanding ‌telecommunications infrastructure, increasing digital service usage, and growing its subscriber base, and has reduced carbon emission intensity across various indicators.

‌According to Irancell’s Public Relations, environmental protection is part of Irancell’s sustainable development policy. ‌Based on the Sustainability Report for the year 1403, the number of Irancell ‌sites reached 19,432. While the number of sites increased by 7%, data consumption by 21%, and the number of subscribers by 4%, net carbon emissions increased by only 2%. Carbon emission intensity indicators also show a decrease of 15% per data usage, 5% per site, and 2% per subscriber.‌‌

By implementing smart energy ‌‌management solutions in BTS sites, optimizing electricity consumption in data ‌‌centers, and improving equipment efficiency, Irancell has controlled its environmental impacts. Other initiatives, such as planting more than 27,000 saplings, launching a paperless billing campaign, protecting the Iranian cheetah, and building solar power plants in schools of underprivileged areas, have also been carried out as part of the company’s environmental responsibility efforts.‌‌‌
