Babol as the First Full 5G City in Iran
In Irancell’s 19th anniversary of establishment, provision of mobile 5G integrated coverage was carried out in Babol and this city was introduced as the first “Full 5G City” in Iran.
This ceremony was held on 21 October 2025 with the attendance of the Communications Regulatory Authority president, deputies of ICT Minister, Irancell CEO, and a number of its senior managers.
During the ceremony, Irancell’s future path was delineated with a focus on transforming it from Telco to Techco. Also, it was clarified that Irancell’s major strategy will be concentrated on development of communication infrastructures, empowerment of businesses, provision of innovative digital services and moving toward achievement of a stable digital economy.
So far, 1171 5G sites have been operated across the country and development of 5G FWA is in progress aiming to provide coverage for more than 500k households.
With the operation of full 5G coverage in Babol, a differentiated experience has been provided for citizens in terms of speed and network stability. This measure is regarded as part of the 5G development plan throughout the country and a move toward realizing smart cities and digital transformation.
In addition, concurrent with the implementation of this project, a special plan has been considered to be performed in Babol to facilitate buying mobile phones supporting 5G in installments.
