ICT Minister Launches FTTX Pro Service/Irancell Network Records the Highest Internet Speed in Iran

The 27th international Iran ELECOMP Expo officially commenced by the inauguration of Irancell’s booth in the main hall number 38. During the ICT Minister visit to Irancell’s booth, Irancell’s 5G-SA network managed to set the record of the highest Internet speed in Iran with 7.5 Gbps.
According to Irancell Public Relations, this morning, on Saturday 29 June 2024, the 27th Iran Electronic, Computer and E-commerce (ELECOMP) Expo was inaugurated at Irancell’s booth in hall number 38 of Tehran International Exhibitions Center with the presence of Minister of ICT Dr. Eisa Zarepour, Deputy Minister and Head of CRA Dr. Amir Mohammadzadeh Lajevardi, Deputy Minister and Head of Information Technology Organization Dr. Mohammd Khansari, Deputy Minister in Government, Parliament and Provinces Affairs Dr. Reza Bagheri Asl and his accompanying delegation and President of Iranian ICT Guild Organization Dr. Ali Hakim Javadi. On his visit, the ICT Minister got informed and updated on the latest products, services and achievements of Irancell in various areas of digital economy, digital transformation and artificial intelligence and he also ran an Internet speed test on Irancell’s FTTX Pro and 5G-SA networks, establishing the highest Internet speed in Iran.
Irancell launched its FTTX Pro service at its booth in the presence of the Minister of ICT and ran an Internet speed test setting the record of the highest Internet speed in Iran at 6083 Mbps on its FTTX network.
Irancell’s FTTX Pro service benefits from the infrastructure and technical specifications of fiber to the home and fiber to the business; however, using stronger hardware equipment, it provides industries, organizations and big businesses with ultrafast Internet speeds. Irancell FTTx project, which is being developed in various cities across the country, has benefited users with high speeds up to 1 Gbps and today by the launch of FTTx Pro, Irancell can provide industries and big businesses and enterprises with even higher speeds up to 10 times faster.
Meanwhile, during the service launch ceremony, Zarepour provided a report on the latest status of FTTX service in the country and said: “Presently, eight million and five hundred thousand households throughout the country can use the developed FTTX service which has been made available to them by their doors and enterprises premises.” He further added: “In the next stage, users must make a request to service provider operators to be able to use the capabilities of this high speed Internet network which is based on fixed network.
Later, on his visit to Irancell’s booth in 1403 ELECOMP, the minister and his companions ran a speed test on Irancell’s 5G Standalone. In Dey of the last year (December 2023) during Iran Telecom 2023 expo, Irancell had unveiled this network and after a few months of developing the network, it has now managed to set a record in having the highest Internet speed in Iran over its 5G-SA network with 7.5 Gbps and so once again breaking the Internet speed record in Iran. Irancell had also managed to hold the highest Internet speed record in Iran with about 6.5 Gbps in a speed test ran on generation 5.5 of mobile phone network last year in Dey.
Upon establishment of the highest Internet speed records on FTTX Pro and 5G-SA networks of Irancell, ICT Minister said: “We are excited to see such records becoming normal in our country like in other countries of the region where sometimes some videos from their Internet speed tests are shown. And now, our people can witness such high speeds in our own country due to great efforts of Irancell”.
Irancell as the first 5G operator holding the 5G Internet speed in Iran has implemented the 5G Standalone mode in the country for the first time and now all capabilities of 5G as a service-oriented generation can be utilized. One of the main focuses of 5G-SA is the capabilities which are going to help industries and advance the digital transformation and usage of IoT capacities. And the Standalone mode enables 5G to be provided as a private network for large industries in the country.
This network has been implemented based on aggregation of frequency layers over the 26 GHz and 3.5 GHz frequency bands and uses a 1000 MHz bandwidth. The features of this 5G mode include providing different levels of service to subscribers based on need (Network Slicing), reducing latency and ensuring the delivery of yearly data packages (Reliability), covering a large number of devices connected to SIM cards (up to one million) in a limited area to the extent required for things like self-driving cars and medical uses, and reducing battery consumption of mobile phones.
In addition to the said features, one of the most important capabilities which 5G Standalone mode provides to subscribers is the Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) which brings the calculations performed on the network platform in the network core closer to the user and maximizes the processing power available on the user side.
Irancell is attending the ELECOMP this year with a comprehensive vision in all areas related to its activities focusing on three major axes of digital economy, digital transformation and artificial intelligence. The said areas of activity include sales and distribution, digital, research and development (Irancell Labs), customer relations services, organizational solutions, network and infrastructure development, human resources, localization, network security, sustainability and social responsibility, etc., to each of which a station has been dedicated at Irancell’s booth which meet the needs of visitors and subscribers. Also, Irancell affiliates, including Vista, Snapp Group, Vista Media and Noafarin Fund, are attending the ELECOMP beside Irancell.
Those interested in visiting Irancell’s latest technological and innovative achievements can attend the permanent site of Tehran International Exhibitions from June 29 to July 2, from 9:00 to 16:00, and visit the main exhibition hall 38.
